Out and About

Members of RRMS from time to time travel to see museums and historic sites both inside and outside Australia - to gain ideas, to keep up with developments in the museum world, and to consult with professional colleagues.

January 2006
Linda Young  joined staff and 20 students from four Australian and four European universities, all offering Master's level programs in heritage and cultural tourism, in Paris in January for a week-long 'Master Class' in world heritage procedure and management at UNESCO.
The formal sessions were followed by a field visit to the Loire Valley, recently inscribed on the World Heritage list as a cultural landscape. Despite bitter cold, all enjoyed a wonderful experience. It culminates in the Australian students spending a semester in Europe and the Europeans undertaking semester one in Australia (mainly at Deakin).

December 2005
Roslyn Russell and Dr Linda Young visited Christchurch, New Zealand for three days and saw historic properties managed by the N.Z. Historic Places Trust - Riccarton House, Mona Vale, and Ngaio Marsh House.
